Constellations

Avant-garde for children, is what springs to mind when watching Aracaladanza’s dance work for children based on Joan Miró surrealist paintings.

The 55 minute show, created magical moments that were at times childlike and awesome.

Occasionally, the pace of the pieces dipped enough to encourage some fidgeting, but this was quickly rectified by giant balls of wool, crazy costumes and the most beautiful spectacle of a white being with giant lit-up wings whirling gently around the stage.

Before and after art activities nicely linked the work on stage to the work of the artist.

As a piece of children’s dance theatre with linked surrealist activities it worked perfectly, especially with the 7-11 age group in mind.
