Bristol School of Acting Students to Perform at 2022 National Theatre Connections Festival
Students at the Bristol School of Acting, have been selected to perform a new play at the 2022 National Theatre Connections Festival.
They will be one of ten groups selected from across the country to represent new work being created nationwide.
The play they will be performing is – Like There’s No Tomorrow. It’s a new play created by the Belgrade Young Company with Justine Themen, Claire Procter and Liz Mytton. Focusing on climate change, the play explores what happens when people want to carry on consuming, despite the world cracking up in front of them.
The National Theatre Connections Festival has been running for 27 years, commissioning ten playwrights to create plays each year specifically for young people to stage and perform.
“NT Connections was an opportunity I would never pass up,” company member Kaleigh Brady said. “It gave me confidence and let me work in a professional environment. I love working with the people there and I am proud to be a part of Bristol School of Acting”.
The drama school, based in central Bristol, is one of the newest in the country and is already managing to impress within the industry. The school is aiming to ‘re-imagine’ actor training that will ‘challenge the status quo’ applying their ‘voice and identity’ in the industry.
Group Leader Stuart Wood said: “Bristol School of Acting is excited that our students have the opportunity to perform at the National Theatre. Making theatre relevant and engaging for young people is vital and NT Connections does this brilliantly.”
Like There’s No Tomorrow will be at at the Dorfman Theatre on 29 June 2022 at 7pm
