Calendar Girls Cast Bristol:
The cast for hit musical Calendar Girls, has been announced for the Bristol Hippodrome stop-off of its UK and Ireland Tour.
Calendar Girls The Musical, is based on a true story which was subsequently turned into a film, a play then a musical. The original event took place in a Yorkshire Village, involving a group of ladies who posed naked for a Women’s Institute calendar.
The ladies were aiming to raise funds to buy a sofa for the local hospital in memory of one of their husbands. The calendar captured the public’s interest, turning their story into art and also raising almost £5 million funds for Bloodwise.
The cast coming to Bristol includes: Sarah Jane Buckley as Annie, Sue Devaney as Cora, Julia Hills as Ruth, Judy Holt as Marie, Lisa Maxwell as Celia, Ruth Madoc as Jessie and Rebecca Storm as Chris.
The musical by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, is directed by Matt Ryan, designed by Robert Jones, with comedy staging by Jos Houben and movement by Lucy Hind.
