Scenes With Girls by Miriam Battye – Alma Tavern Theatre

Eightball Productions return to the Bristol stage with Miriam Battye’s Scenes With Girls.

Tosh. Lou. Fran. 22 scenes. Other friends have come, got boyfriends, and gone. So what? These girls have each other. Between them, there is love. And that’s enough. That is enough.

The play was first staged at The Royal Court in 2020. It follows Lou as she revels in her newfound freedom whilst Tosh grapples with jealousy and unspoken feelings.

The arrival of their old friend Fran, loved up and seemingly content with conventional romance, complicates their dynamic. Battye’s play delves into the complexities of female sexual empowerment, the pressure to perform happiness, and the fear of being left behind in a rapidly changing world.
