SUMMARY:Million Dollar Quartet - Barn Theatre Cirencester
DESCRIPTION:Darren Day stars in Million Dollar Quartet\nThe Barn Theatre in Cirencester has announced that Darren Day will be starring as Sam Phillips in Million Dollar Quartet this summer. \nThe show was inspired by Elvis Presley\, Johnny Cash\, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. \nIt first played at Barn Theatre in 2022 and is returning to the stage due to overwhelming public demand. \nThe show has a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux. This production will be directed by Jonathan O’Boyle. \nFurther casting and creatives will be announced shortly. \nIt’s set on the night of 04 December 1956. The four men who walked into a recording studio in Memphis that night went on to shape rock’n’roll music\, changing the direction of popular music forever. \nMillion Dollar Quartet includes the classic songs Blue Suede Shoes\, Fever\, Walk The Line\, Hound Dog. \n \nDarren Day’s musical theatre resume is extensive\, following after winning Opportunity Knocks back in the 80s. \n“I genuinely couldn’t think of more perfect casting\, ” Barn Theatre’s CEO and Artistic Director Iwan Lewis says. \n“Sam Phillips is an iconic figure who played such a pivotal role in shaping the music industry\, and to have this role played by Darren Day\, who has himself taken on some of the most defining roles in musical theatre\, feels incredibly fitting. SUMMARY:Starshore - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Marcus Sahir brings his brand new show\, Starshore\, to the Alma Tavern Theatre this summer. \nIt’s a one-man comedy drama\, written and performed by Sahir\, exploring themes around eating disorders and mortality. It focuses on recovery\, queer friendship and the forces of nature that can both destroy and heal us in turn. \nYears after forging friendship in an eating disorder ward\, Aadhi and Kara re-unite on a hiking trip to the sea\, determined to be new people and put the past behind them. Aadhi has never seen the ocean before. Kara sees it every summer\, and can’t wait to show him. \nBut old demons die hard\, and deep waters reflect ugly secrets. As the days go by\, the fears they’ve hoped to bury are brought to the surface\, and their bond is tested in ways neither could have imagined. \nCan starlight be kept? Or do we always fall back to darkness? \nBristol-based Sahir is known for his work locally\, including Today I fought A Tiger\, Cardboard Village\, The Courts and Morally Grey for Lightbox Theatre. \nThe show is produced by Marcus Hadley.

SUMMARY:Lulu - Tobacco Factory Theatres
DESCRIPTION:The premiere production of Angela Carter’s darkly comic adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s Lulu\, is being staged at Tobacco Factory Theatres this summer. \nLulu is many things: muse\, monster\, fantasy. Those she meets unveil their desires and obsessions – revealing more about themselves than her – each encounter drawing them closer not to Lulu’s power\, but to their own unraveling.  \nRising from obscurity into a world of wealth\, lust\, and moral decay\, Lulu moves through shifting identities and projections. Desire is electric\, danger lurks in the grotesque and absurd\, and the line between victim and predator dissolves.  \nThe show is being performed by the graduating acting students and supported by Technical Theatre Arts students from Bristol School of Acting.
