DESCRIPTION:The Alma Tavern Theatre’s in-house production company Schoolhouse Productions are bringing Lauren Gunderson’s The Half-Life of Marie Curie to its stage this September. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarie Curie. The most famous woman in the history of science: double Nobel prize winner and who saved countless lives on the front line in WW1.  But this was almost written out of history. \nFour years after the death of her husband Pierre\, Marie has embarked on – and been discovered in – an affair with a married scientist. The fall out threatens to tear her\, and her daughters’ lives apart. Into the eye of the media-storm surrounding her bustles peer and friend\, Hertha Ayrton to take her away from the chaos and scrutiny. \nCreated with the generous support from patrons of the Alma Theatre.

DESCRIPTION:Hadsan Mohamud’a British Somali rom-com comes to The Weston Studio of Bristol Old Vic this month. \nCrush is an impactful\, honest and light-hearted piece of theatre following two Somali teens who meet in a clinic waiting room. \nNajma has been in treatment for years. Zakariya’s just starting out. She sketches and he writes poems. Neither of them is ready to talk until they meet each other. \nAs their sessions continue\, so do the chats\, the jokes and the secrets. \nCrush is inspired by Hadsan’s own lived experience of having an eating disorder. DESCRIPTION:A free circus event will be taking place in The Galleries this September. \nWaiting Song by Mish Weaver will see two trapeze artists suspended in mid-air in the centre of The Galleries – between both sets of escalators. \nThey spin\, sway and sing in duet. The performance is a lyrical exploration of how anticipation shapes our emotions and actions. \nThere will be three performances during the afternoon. Each one will be different as the artists weave in thoughts and reflections from those they meet along the way. \nAll performances are approximately 15 minutes. The performers will be around for 15 minutes before it starts to chat to people. \nShow times are at: 12:15pm\, 1:45pm\, 3:45pm each day \nPerformances and seating will be provided\, including seats reserved for those that need them. \n
