SUMMARY:The Kings Speech - Barn Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A country on the precipice of another terrible war. An abdicated king. A constitutional crisis. And the only man who can provide hope for the nervous British public is Bertie – a man who is shy\, unprepared for monarchy and\, worst of all\, has a debilitating speech impediment. \nWith the future of the monarchy\, and Britain itself\, on the line\, an historic radio address looms over a man who can barely stammer through full sentences. Desperate\, Bertie and his family turn to an unconventional speech therapist from Australia to turn him into the king Britain can believe in. \nAs royal protocol meets unorthodox challenges\, what emerges is an unlikely but deeply meaningful friendship. Adapted from the Oscar-winning film\, this exciting new production from the acclaimed Barn Theatre blends humour\, heart and high stakes in a beloved drama about duty\, courage and finding one’s voice.

SUMMARY:Living Spit Omlet: Prince of Henmark - The Wardrobe Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Living Spit will be at The Wardrobe Theatre this October with brand new show Omlet: Prince of Henmark. \nIt’s the story of Hamlet\, told by a variety of eggs and other foodstuffs puppeteered to camera and livestreamed. Not only was this founder member and RSC actor Stu McLoughlin’s first ever solo show\, it was the inaugural performance at the brand new theatre location for for Clevedon’s The Theatre Shop in Market Hall. \nThe show is playing at 13 different venues across the region until November 2026. \nThe Tragedy of Omlet Prince of Hen-mark\nBy Stu McLoughlin (and William Shakespeare) \n“O\, that this too too solid shell would melt\,\nThaw and resolve itself into a dew…” \nThe question of suitability to play the Moody Dane has preoccupied theatre makers for\ncenturies. Scholars have long debated age\, physique\, gender and temperament – yet all\nhave overlooked the perfect candidate: an egg. \nEnter Omlet\, Prince of Hen-mark; Hamlet rehatched; fragile\, brooding\, on the brink of\ncracking under the pressure of his own Egg-sistential angst and joined by a full supporting\ncast of vegetables and assorted foodstuffs –  fresh from the fridge and prepared to present\nShakespeare’s greatest tragedy as you’ve never seen it before; retold by one man\, one egg\nand a trolley full of comestibles. \nBut this is no ordinary one man show. With live original music\, perishable puppetry\, and an\noverly confident reliance on bad puns\, actor Stu Mcloughlin juggles an entire allotment of\nShakespearean tragedy whilst trying not to turn his leading man into a leading flan. \nOmlet\, Prince of Hen-mark is a sumptuous scramble of skillful soliloquising\, small-scale\nsuspense and sunny-side-up Shakespearean silliness. A cracking night out\, which proves\nonce and for all that… \n…something is rotten in the state of Hen-mark. \n

SUMMARY:Rabbit & Rey and The Lost Things - The Wardrobe Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Rabbit & Rey and The Lost Things is a brand new bonkers adventure from Stuff & Nonsense Theatre Company. \nThe funny and heart-tugging show is a joyful production aimed at children aged from 3 – 8 years of age with their families. \nEver felt like the world’s playing hide and seek with your stuff? One moment it’s there… the next\, pooff! Your toy\, your glasses\, your book\, your sock… even your ideas\, gone. \nEnter Rey: an imagination expert\, a question-asker\, and a glorious misplacer of everything. Beside Rey is Rabbit: a forever-loved bunny\, wise\, fiercely loyal\, and always present when the world feels like a bit too much. \nTogether\, the pair set off on an unforgettable quest to find all the things they’ve ever lost. But as their journey unfolds\, Rabbit & Rey realize they aren’t the only ones missing things—other people have Lost Things too. As Rey begins to wonder if being a “loser” might not be so bad after all\, a remarkable truth emerges: What if losing things wasn’t the problem\, but the path?

SUMMARY:The Dying Wish - Kelvin Players
DESCRIPTION:Paul has been sentenced to death\, for reasons he isn’t fully certain of. Two executioners supervise\, as he awaits the judgement of the attorney’s appeals\, which seem to involve an increasingly complex system of bribery and a tangle of fresh accusations.  \nPaul has a final request\, a dying wish: to play the piano. \nThe bureaucracy of law and the macabre absurdity of capital punishment are held up to scrutiny in this surreal and incisive black comedy\, grounded by glimmers of humanity. \nAn original piece from Kelvin’s own Mauro Fazion\, The Dying Wish is an eclectic and deeply human examination of how we cope in the face of death\, uncertainty\, and corruption. \nWritten by Mauro Fazion\nDirected by Peter Spence

SUMMARY:Careless Talk - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Do you know who the only British person to be tried for treason in the Second World War was? \nNeither did we. \nBut\, here comes Careless Talk so you can find out all about Mabel Daley Bancroft. \nThis warm and funny show is written and performed by Ali Williams\, based on the novel Careless Talk by James Friel. \nWas Mabel a collaborator?  A visionary? Or just an outsider?  Was she the victim of a witch hunt? Or the victim of her own uncompromising nature? \nIt’s all high treason on Sandown Beach in this comedy drama\, completely based on a true story. \nCareless talk is frequently hilarious as well as moving\, with themes of the justice system\, who it protects and why? \n\n\n\n  \n
