SUMMARY:Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working - Bristol Improv Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working\, comes from Full Frontal Theatre. \nThe interrogation of comedy follows up and coming controversial stand-up Rodney Black who is at the peak of his career. \nDividing public opinion\, he both titillates and aggravates audiences in equal measure. \nA violent crime committed by one of his Super Fans leaves him grappling with the ethical implications of his new found spotlight. \nThe theatre company asks ‘where we might draw the line between what is actually ‘just kidding’ and who is masking malicious intent.’ It questions the ‘complications and responsibilities’ that come with ‘influence’. \nIt’s the second play by Sadie Pearson\, also writer of To Watch A Man Eat. Together with actor director and theatre maker Hen Ryan and producer Grace Shropshire\, the three make up Full Frontal Theatre.

SUMMARY:Loop - The Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Dark comedy Loop\, is coming to the Alma Tavern Theatre this April. \nIt’s described as a dark comedy with a “timey-wimey” twist. \nAlice and Alfie’s relationship is in the rut to end all ruts. After night. \nIf only they could turn the page. \nReeling from a tortuous night of sci-fi cosplay and armed with a vague memory of something really quite bad\, Alice and Alfie peer into the darkness. There’s something there. Could be a way out. Could be an end to a life of endless bickering\, bad poetry\, and shoddy home improvements. \nCould be\, couldn’t it? Or it could be their worst nightmare. \nThe show is performed by Bristol-based theatre company Soul Cake Theatre. \n\nYou can find out more about the company here: https://www.facebook.com/soulcaketheatre \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Double bill: The Britz/Codetta at Tobacco Factory Theatres
DESCRIPTION:Bristol School of Acting and The Wardrobe Ensemble proudly present an evening of original theatre devised by the graduating class of the ‘Acting and Devised Theatre’ BA programme.\n\n\nThe Britz\n6 Lads.\n27 Pina Coladas.\n1 Gameplan that can’t go wrong.\n\nDippy has finally got the boys together for one big holiday. The all-inclusive is booked\, the itinerary is printed out. But as his childhood friends gather for the big night out\, something in the back of Dippy’s mind tells him that today is the day everything finally explodes. \nBooze. Sex. Ancient Prophecies. The Britz is a playful satire on British holidaymaking\, and a tender dive into the hidden frailties of Lad culture. Packed with chaotic movement sequences\, touching confessions\, and new music. All packaged in the affordable havoc of a lads holiday. \n\n\n\nCodetta: A brief conclusion \nThe end of girlhood.\nThe end of the world. \nThe moment you put away your polly pocket. That time you were truly nasty to your best friend. Learning to kiss and buying your first bra. Becoming a supernova. \nTold through a glittering 2010s pop concert\, with synchronised choreography and original music\, Codetta is an unforgettable farewell to our lost childhoods. \nGrab your hairbrush\, put on your jelly shoes and hit play on the pop renaissance.

SUMMARY:Broken Glass by Arthur Miller - Axbridge Community Theatre - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Axbridge Community Theatre will be at the Alma Tavern Theatre this April with Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass. \nThe ingrained antisemitism faced by the Gellburgs daily is bearable. But what happens when racist violence flares up on the other side of the globe? Can the rise of the Nazis really affect a Jewish couple in Brooklyn? Will their marriage survive the threat to their livelihoods and their health? \n \nSylvia is obsessed by disturbing images from Nazi Germany\, reproduced in the local press. Her husband Phillip downplays his Jewishness in order to fit in. When Sylvia loses the use of her legs\, they engage a Doctor from their own community. But is he competent enough to tackle the root causes of her physical – and perhaps mental – illness? \nFirst published in 1994\, when debates about the holocaust still raged in the USA\, the play’s action is set in late 1938. By examining Jewish identity -through world events\, local attitudes and personal feelings – its themes remain strikingly relevant today. \nFor more information about Axbridge Community Theatre: https://www.facebook.com/AxbridgeACT

SUMMARY:Scraps - The Wardrobe Theatre Bristol
DESCRIPTION:Bristol creatives Mia Macleod and Daisy Kennedy return to the stage with SCRAPS\, which will be at the Wardrobe Theatre at the end of March. \nScraps is a semi-autobiographical piece of theatre combining dance\, lipsync\, clowning in this comedy satire. \nThe show explores the class divide in within the creative world\, poking fun at the everyday struggles of Austerity-Britain™ and follows the course of two artists who just want to make work that matters. \nMia and Daisy say: “We have different class backgrounds and when creating a show set now\, during a cost of living crisis\, we realised it was something we couldn’t just jump over. By doing that we dismiss a huge chunk of our lives and identities\, but it’s not as simple as working class or middle class and we wanted to pick apart that conversation within our work. The characters in SCRAPS are dramatised versions of ourselves; we have interrogated our own identities and magnified the expectations that may be put onto us dependent on our class bracket.” \n\n\nPhotography by Craig Fuller
