DESCRIPTION:Debs Newbold comes to The Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol with DAUNTLESS: Grace O’Malley\, Pirate Queen. \nIt’s a warm welcome from the city\, for Debs’ solo show is a pirate story for 21st-century feminists. \nBristol is literally home to seafaring\, maritime history and of course pirates. \nThe infamous pirate Blackbeard was from Bristol. Parts of Robert Louis Stevenson novel Treasure Island were inspired by this very city. \nDebs’ inspiration for the show was Grace O’Malley\, or Gráinne Ní Mháille in Irish. She was born on Clare Island in Clew Bay in 1530. \nAfter stowing away on her father’s ship aged 8\, she became a multilingual\, seafaring weapons expert and notorious pirate. \nDauntless is a celebration of uproarious storytelling\, high drama and one fascinating 16th century feminist.
