SUMMARY:Badgers - The Weston Studio
DESCRIPTION:Something has taken root in this town. A recluse\, a disappearance\, a mysterious folk song. \nAnd then there’s you\, Meles – a podcaster with a dying mother and a stalling career – about to stumble into something unfathomable. Something that could change everything. But is it your story to tell? \nA folk tale about folk tales\, the art of letting go\, and the ethics of true crime\, Badgers is a shape-shifting\, mercurial new show from the team behind Outlier. Written by Malaika Kegode with music by Jakabol.

SUMMARY:Mr Crispie by Lewis Cook & Vince Stadon - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Bristol theatre company Boogie Nachts Theatre returns this September with Mr Crispie. It’s a murderously irreverent farce set in post-war London. \nMr Crispie tells the story of Charles Reginald Ispe\, a fussy bachelor and unremarkable council officer who dreams of etching his name in the annals of infamy as a famous serial killer. Inspired by notorious villains like the Tottenham Throttler and the Madman of Mayfair\, he has planned every detail of the perfect crime. However\, when the chance finally arrives\, he finds that not only has the rug been pulled from beneath him\, but the underlay has come with it too.

SUMMARY:Project Dance: Things I’ve Never Said - The Redgrave Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Project Dance brings Things I’ve Never Said to Bristol this August. \nThe dance company’s latest work is a moving exploration of the secrets we carry and the words we leave unspoken. It reminds us that everybody has a story. \nThe performance is set to original live music by Charles Harrison with a story by James Bamford and Grace Noelle. \nJames Bamford\, who is also Project Dance’s founder and Director says: “It’s never easy to describe how it feels to be developing and presenting a new show\, it is without doubt the most magical\, inspiring yet live-engulfing process. \n“Now in our 4th consecutive year of presenting an original production annually\, Things I’ve Never Said stands apart for its ambition; a new\, compelling and nuanced narrative\, underscored by a live band on stage\, which we hope will prove to be a unique and emotive experience for audiences.” \nThe dance company is launching a campaign to go with the performance inviting people to share their own “things they’ve never said”. \ntins.projectdance.org.uk \nFeatured Image: Len Copland

SUMMARY:Black Mountain by Brad Birch - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:In a cabin in a forest by a mountain\, Paul and Rebecca find time\, space and truth to try saving their fractured relationship. Yet in the shadow of the mountain\, paranoia grows as someone from their past has followed them here. \nBeware of what lurks in the darkness and what hides in plain sight. \nA psychological thriller that dives into betrayal and the price of trust\, forgiveness and revenge. With razor-sharp dialogue and an atmosphere thick with dread\, this is modern theatre that creeps under your skin and lingers long after the lights fade. Who can you trust in the dark\, who can you trust atop the mountain? \nDark. Twisted. Funny. Sexy. Unmissable. \nWritten by Welsh writer Brad Birch\, winner of the Harold Pinter commission. \nProduced by Orange Raven Productions\, a group of theatre makers committed to the radical new Gonsalves Method approach to creating compelling drama by authentic connection.

SUMMARY:Queer Eyes on Queer Lives - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Queer Eyes on Queer Lives from Watson’s House Productions\, is an hour-long anthology show combining three original short plays. \nSpanning genres from slapstick comedy to science-fiction drama to black comedy mystery\, each show highlights an under-discussed part of queer history. \nThe show comes to the Alma Tavern Theatre this August\, with the following three stories: \nThe Last Ride of Julie d’Aubigny – a slapstick comedy that explores the life of trouser-wearing duellist and pioneering opera 16th century singer Julie d’Aubigny and how she balances her busy love life as her relationships come to an explosive conclusion. \nGladiators – a science-fiction romance featuring two characters\, Balacrus and Francis\, who are whisked from their respective time periods of an unknown purpose. As they come to learn what connects them\, they are pushed ever closer by their mysterious abductors. \nWho Killed Karl Heinrich Ulrichs – an absurdist murder mystery comedy that follows three doctors who investigate the history of a recent murder victim\, Karl Heinrich Ulrichs. All is not as it seems\, as the corpse has more to say than the doctors let on. \n

SUMMARY:The Sock Show - Trinity Centre
DESCRIPTION:The Sock Show comes to Trinity Centre this summer as part of the venue’s Summer Den programme. \nWatch as discarded socks are stitched\, swung\, and swung from in a show that’s equal parts circus and sock-based existential crisis. Expect dazzling flips\, daring balances\, and a surprisingly moving ode to the lost art of darning. \nThis is sustainability with sequins: a celebration of repair\, reuse\, and ridiculous footwear. \nThe Sock Show is a brand new outdoor acrobatic performance from Can’t Sit Still. It was commissioned as part of South Gloucestershire Council’s High Street Regeneration Programme. \nIt’s currently on a preview tour with performances in Bristol and South Gloucestershire and a London date later this month.

SUMMARY:Touched - Alma Tavern Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Pilots Thumb Theatre Company comes to the Alma Tavern Theatre this summer with their new production of Touched. \nThe Devon based theatre company are performing in Bristol for the first time as part of a new tour. \nTouched was originally written by Danny Strike inspired by a short play by Laura Quigley. It’s been adapted and rewritten by Beth Scott-Hewlett. \nBritain didn’t collapse overnight—it slowly came apart. Jobs disappeared\, trust eroded\, and people stopped looking each other in the eye. Then the Urban Regeneration Programme arrived. Not a revolution. Just a system that slipped quietly into people’s lives and called itself order. \nSome welcome it. Some fear it. Most are simply trying to survive it. \nIn a world designed to keep everyone apart\, they find something rare: connection. Not quite love or friendship. More like the quiet ache of being altered by another person. \nThe Programme claims it can fix society. But to fix something\, you often must strip it down—remove the messy\, human parts first: fear\, pain\, hope\, longing. The need for one another. And if we lose those things\, what’s left of us?

SUMMARY:Pyg - Spielman Theatre of Tobacco Factory Theatres
DESCRIPTION:Bath-based theatre company Sandcastles Productions is staging its new play Pyg in the Spielman Theatre of Tobacco Factory Theatres this summer. \nThree men. One mannequin. A place between somewhere and nowhere. Harrison has been coming here for a year. Or maybe it’s his first time. Or his last. It depends on which Harrison you ask: the pensioner\, the man in his 30s\, or the teenager. They’ve all been summoned here for the same reason – if only they could figure out what that is. The mannequin stands at the centre of it all\, unravelling Harrison’s life before his eyes\, as it becomes clear that there are darker truths about his world threatening to break his fantasies.   \nIt’s been described as a ‘wickedly inventive’ new play that deconstructs the relationship between masculinity and technology in a ‘radical’ and ‘compelling’ way. \nThe theatre company was founded in 2024 with the aim of giving emerging actors and creatives the chance to devise and stage original work. Its debut production – Glass House – brought together 7 actors\, 4 writers and script editors\, 3 technical designers 3 photographers and publicity designers\, 2 producers and a director. It’s an impressive feat in a challenging industry. \nThe production will be in Bristol for one night only ahead of a run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

SUMMARY:Sharon Wanjohi: A Perfect Life (Preview) - The Gaffe Comedy Club
DESCRIPTION:Sharon Wanjohi is finally getting her shit together. It’s time. I’ve bought some crystals\, taken an iron supplement and finally stopped avoiding my taxes. Will this be enough to undo years of avoidance? My therapist (girl I met in a nightclub toilet years ago) says no but I say yes. Because delusion is the key to success. \nSharon Wanjohi is a queer British Kenyan comedian who’s been making waves on the circuit with her take on the lack of Gen-z homeowners and maybe too much material on the cartoons that inspired a generation of sexual awakenings. \nShe has written on Never Mind the Buzzcocks\, Late Night Lycett and The Jonathan Ross Show.

DESCRIPTION:Andrew Brooke brings his comedy show Glove Fulla Vaseline\, to the Alma Tavern Theatre this July. \nThe show is currently out on tour with all previous dates selling out. \nThe former teacher’s show is based upon his thirty years of teaching John Steinbeck Of Mice and Men to disengaged secondary school students. \nGlove Fulla Vaseline turns his experiences into a funny\, musical and painfully recognisable look at the realities of life in the classroom. \nAudiences can experience the triumphs and tribulations – and chaos – of teaching the GCSE text to so many reluctant GCSE students. \n

SUMMARY:Lulu - Tobacco Factory Theatres
DESCRIPTION:The premiere production of Angela Carter’s darkly comic adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s Lulu\, is being staged at Tobacco Factory Theatres this summer. \nLulu is many things: muse\, monster\, fantasy. Those she meets unveil their desires and obsessions – revealing more about themselves than her – each encounter drawing them closer not to Lulu’s power\, but to their own unraveling.  \nRising from obscurity into a world of wealth\, lust\, and moral decay\, Lulu moves through shifting identities and projections. Desire is electric\, danger lurks in the grotesque and absurd\, and the line between victim and predator dissolves.  \nThe show is being performed by the graduating acting students and supported by Technical Theatre Arts students from Bristol School of Acting.
