Liam Withnail Comes to Bristol on Chronic Boom Tour
The Comedian will be coming to Bristol on tour in 2024
Comic storyteller Liam Withnail, is going out on his first UK tour in 2024. This will see him bring his show Chronic Boom, to the Alma Tavern Theatre.
It was part way through 2022 that Liam found himself diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease Ulcerative Colitis, with one hospital stay lasting 10 days.It was something that changed his life and work forever.
The Edinburgh based comedian, described as a ‘gifted storyteller’ suddenly found he had to find new ways of working, knowing that he could be hospitalised at any time.

For a comedian, finding ways of testing new material was crucial. This led him to set about creating a show composed of ten five minute routines. The number ten specifically relating to each day of his first hospital stay. This was a functional approach which could be perfected at new material nights. The routines form the narrative structure of his show, which is about how disabled people or those with chronic illness must make adjustments and changes every single to day.
Liam Withnail: Chronic Boom, will be at the Alma Tavern Theatre on Thursday 02 May 2024
