The Matthew of Bristol – Stunning Ship on Bristol Harbour
The incredible ship is located near the M Shed
The Matthew of Bristol, is an impressive replica of the original Matthew that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497.
The ship is modern reconstruction of a medieval caravel. It was built in Bristol for the 500th anniversary of Cabot’s voyage.

In 1997, it followed Cabot’s original journey, sailing across the Atlantic to Canda.
The ship can be seen moored at Princes Wharf near the M Shed. It’s also possible to book tickets for a trip around the Harbour or along the River Avon.
