WNO Don Giovanni at Bristol Hippodrome April 2018

There’s so many great things going on in Bristol, it can be easy to become blasé about booking ahead and getting tickets.

I won’t be making the Onegin mistake again. That was rocking up to a theatre box office a month or so before the one performance and cockily expecting a seat I want to sit in to be available.

Now my ticket is safely filed in my inbox, go and get yours for Don Giovanni at The Bristol Hippodrome in April next year. Yes, that is April 2018, but this opera is a Mozart great and the Welsh National Opera will only be doing the one performance in Bristol. I’ve already sighed at the limited number of suitable seats available in the stalls.

The music is beautiful and the story funny, dramatic and has the most insane ending you will ever see. Probably the most insane operatic ending you will ever see. You can never be quite sure, because opera has an exiting fresh breath of life at the moment. Though of course, it would be hard to beat Mozart’s musical vision of Don Giovanni being dragged to the fiery furnaces of hell after being warned to repent by a ghostly statue.
