Bristol Docks Heritage Weekend 2026

Bristol Docks comes alive every September for its heritage weekend

It might have been a grey and drizzly day, but the Harbourside was in full swing for Bristol Docks Heritage Weekend.

The event saw the electric cranes and steam train in operation, giving displays of how it moved cargo around the docks back in the 1950s. During this time, the Floating Harbour had around 40 of these cranes in operation.

Visitors were also treated to performances by the city’s Show of Strength Theatre Company, an award winning company bringing Bristol’s history to life with their theatre walks.

This is always a great event, well worthy of buying an umbrella to take a look at the city’s heritage assets in operation.

Look out for the miniature and fully operational model of the Bristol Docks being displayed because it is an outstanding piece of work.

The event is taking place across the 19 – 20 September 2026
