Bristol Jack in the Green Dances into Broadmead for 2025
Traditional May Day event sweeps into Broadmead to celebrate summer in Bristol
If you saw procession of people dressed in green accompanying a dancing tree in Bristol this weekend, it was this year’s Bristol Jack in the Green.
The May Day tradition happens once every year on the first Saturday of May.
The event happens across England – including Bristol.
Jack ‘wakes up’ on the Bristol Harbourside and makes his way across the city ending up in Horfield.

This year’s Jack in the Green drew curiosity from Broadmead shoppers as the procession swept into the shopping area. A traditional dance was performed before the procession continued its way to Horfield Common, where Jack takes his final dance before dying.
