Bristol Slapstick Festival Returns in February 2023
The 19th annual festival of silent and classic screen comedy – Slapstick Festival – Returns to Bristol in February 2023.
It’s Europe’s biggest festival of silent and classic screen comedy, celebrating more than a century of classics.
This year’s festival takes place from Tuesday 14 – Sunday 19 February 2023, with 32 events taking place across of range of venues in the city.
It will feature a variety of screenings for all ages as well as rare film finds and expert led talks.
There will also be live appearances from Rob Brydon, Graeme Garden, Harry Hill, Robin Ince, Stephen Mangan, Stephen Merchant, Sir Michael Palin, Nigel Planer, Lucy Porter and all three members of The Scaffold.
Slapstick’s director, Chris Daniels said: “Music has been a key ingredient of every Slapstick since the festival first began way back in 2005 but for our 19th annual edition we’re giving it extra special attention, showcasing the many and varied ways in which more than a century’s worth of entertainers have mixed excellent music with joyous comedy.“
