Bristol Steam Train Rides at M Shed – GWR 1369
Steam train swap for Bristol and Devon this summer
There’s surely fewer things more majestic in Bristol than the sight of a steam train making its way along the waterfront. One of the best things about the Bristol Harbour Railway is that you can get right up close because there are no barriers.
Thankfully, the industrial infrastructure remains on Princes Wharf, allowing people to both watch and take a ride on a vintage steam train.
The popular area of the harbour outside of M Shed, also boasts working electric cranes, the Fairbairn Steam Crane, the Fire-boat Pyronaut, the John King and the Mayflower.
The GWR 1369 – which was seen running along Princes Wharf this week – is currently on loan from South Devon Railway to the Bristol Harbour Railway for 2025. Port of Bristol Authority No. 6 “Henbury” has taken a holiday at the South Devon Railway.
The official season for steam train rides runs on weekends between 12 April— 02 November 2025
