Broadmead Balls Get Their Spring Painting
Spring spruce up for city’s spheres
Broadmead’s Balls are being given a fresh lick of paint this week. The work, carried out by Bagnalls, has seen the stone balls roped off as they are repainted the same shade of green.

The installation is positioned near Tesco and Quiet Sainsbury’s.
They formed part of a project to redevelop the area some years back. The hand-carved balls were created by artist Marion Brandis with landscaping by Reckless Orchard.
The original design saw a paved line made of recycled glass bricks. The blue lines, forming a river, that met a sphere had beautiful mosiac patterns.
Unfortunately, the mosaics were removed in 2022 as part of a cost cutting repair.
