Cardiff Theatre
Cardiff Theatre is a fantastic alternative if you’re running out of Bristol Options:
There are so many theatre options in Bristol, from the tiny fringe venues of Upstairs at The Bear, to the 2000 seater Bristol Hippodrome. But not everything comes on tour to Bristol and Cardiff is always worth a look for alternative options.
The three main venues in Cardiff are:
Cardiff New Theatre – A traditional proscenium theatre, which boasts a programme of plays, musicals and one-nighters.
Wales Millennium Centre – A large accessible venue in Cardiff Bay. Expect everything from large touring productions – ones that don’t always come to Bristol, musicals, ballet, opera and plays. The front of house area is practically space age and the auditorium comfortable and beautifully designed.
St David’s Hall – This venue, in the heart of Cardiff, boasts an impressive programme of live music and entertainment, with excellent seating and views of the stage.
Cardiff is really easy to get to by road or train. The station is in the heart of Cardiff, with Cardiff New Theatre and St David’s Hall a ten minute walk. Wales Millennium Centre is a ten minute bus ride on Bay Car 6 from behind the station.
