Closer Each Day Season 29 Launches This September

Serial favourite returns to Old Market theatre this month

It’s not long until the season opener of Closer Each Day, the live unscripted soap running at The Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol.

Closer Each Day has been going for 13 years, meaning it’s now the longest-running show outside of London.

Uniquely, it is one of the few serialised theatre show in the world and certainly the world’s longest improvised story.

Company co-director Lindsey Garwood promises that the characters and plots are ‘bingeworthy’ with comedy that is ‘addictive’.

As well as taking place on stage, the company has now launched a Patreon, which will enable show fans to access episodes at home ensuring they will never miss an episode.

Artistic Director of the Wardrobe Theatre, Matthew Whittle, called the online addition ‘exciting’ saying: “people will be able to watch catch-up episodes and support the show even if they can’t get to the theatre for every episode, and those that don’t live in Bristol can get in on the act too!’

Introducing Patreon, will also help to keep the show running. Due to the unique nature of the show’s on-going format, it’s not easy for the company to access funding.

Closer Each Day will be running at The Wardrobe Theatre on the following dates in 2024:

  • Monday, 16 September 2024
  • Monday 30 September 2024
  • Monday 14 October 2024
