Disney Announces Simba Casting for The Lion King Tour

  • The Lion King comes to Bristol in February and March 2022 as part of a UK and Ireland Tour

Stephenson Ardern-Sodje will be playing the role of Simba, in Disney’s touring production of The Lion King next year.

Stephenson left his final year at the Royal Academy of Music early, for a role in the original London cast of Hamilton in the West End. As well as being in the ensemble, he covered the lead roles of Alexander Hamilton and John Laurens/ Philip Hamilton.

He’s can also be spotted on the TV screen, having featured in series 2 of Breeders opposite Martin Freeman. Next year he will be in BBC Three series Superhoe, based on NicĂ´le Lecky’s one-woman Royal Court show of the same name.

Further casting includes Nokwanda Khuzwayo as Nala, Alan Mchale as Timon and Owain Rhys Davies taking the role of Ed.

They will join returning principals Matthew Forbes as Zazu, Jean-Luc Guizonne as Mufasa, Richard Hurst as Scar, Rebecca Omogbehin as Shenzi, Thandazile Soni as Rafiki, Carl Sanderson as Pumbaa and Simon Trinder as Banzai.

The Lion King will be opening in Dublin this December, before coming to Bristol from 17 February to the 19 March 2022.
