Fresh Lick Of Paint For Broadmead Balls
The stone Broadmead Balls have been given a fresh lick of paint for 2026. After spending the last 15 months a light green, they have now been updated with slightly pastel shades of reds, greens and yellows.
The balls were originally the Bristol Blue art project. They were hand-carved balls created by artist Marion Brandis with landscaping by Reckless Orchard. The stone balls were unpainted, left in their natural colour.
Over the years, the balls have been painted a variety of colours.
The installation originally featured a number of mosaic covered spheres. Unfortunately, the mosaic tiles were removed in 2022 as part of a cost-cutting repair job.
