New Bristol Theatre Company Brings Sherlock Classic to the Stage
The Hound of the Baskervilles will be coming to the Arnolfini in October
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s thrilling detective novel Hound of the Baskervilles, has captured the imagination of its readers and creative industries since it was first published in The Strand Magazine back in the early 20th century.
The story has been given a spin on TV, film and stage ever since, attracting the likes of actors Basil Rathbone, Peter Cushing, Jeremy Brett and Benedict Cumberbatch.
It has death, murder, curses and a giant hound from hell. It’s one of the best stories of all time.
Bringing Olivier Award nominees Steven Canny and John Nicholson’s script to the stage is new Bristol-based Inner Voice Theatre Company, who will be performing the show at the Arnolfini this autumn.
With three actors multi-rolling 14 parts, Inner Voice says the story will have an ‘incredible pace and energy’. It’s told with gripping storytelling and physical comedy.
The company has already had a successful run of the show at Tobacco Factory Theatres earlier in the year, bringing the latest run back due to popular demand.
Inner Voice was founded last year by award-winning artistic director Steven Clarke, his actor son, Ezra Clarke, Robert Carden and Gabe Willem.
For Hound of the Baskervilles, Steven Clarke will be producing and directing, with Ezra Clarke, Robert Carden and Gabe Willem covering all of the characters.
As a company of creatives, they aim to bring high-quality productions to Bristol as well as generate new opportunities for young actors from a diverse range of backgrounds.
To keep theatre accessible to audiences, there are subsidised tickets for under 30s.
