Procreate By Bethan Screen Comes To Bristol

The show will be coming to Bristol next month

Bethan Screen brings her one-woman show Procreate, to the Alma Tavern Theatre this September.

It’s described as a show about ‘making art and making life (no big deal).’

Full of mid-late 90s cultural references, clowning, puppetry and a lot of fun, Bethan pokes fun at the ‘motherhood penalty’. The prescriptive gender roles, societal norms and expectations that weigh down when you’ve had a baby.

Procreate features the real voices of real mothers from all walks of life and at different stages of their mothering journey. As well as interviewing parents, Bethan also researched the work of charities in this arena including Pregnant Then Screwed, Parents in Performing Arts and The Young Woman’s Trust.

The show is aimed at audiences who are ’90s babies, people who are thinking about having children, for people who don’t want kids, mothers or anyone who is a former baby.’ So that’s pretty much everyone covered.

Procreate will be at the Alma Tavern Theatre on 06 September 2024
