Rehearsal Photographs for William Shakespeare’s Romeo AND Juliet – Bristol Old Vic

Nicola Young’s photographs capture rehearsals currently taking place in Coventry

Rehearsal shots have been released for a brand new production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, coming to Bristol Old Vic this year.

The much-loved play has been designed to bring in brand new theatre-goers as well as seasoned audiences. It will feature original music, rap and R&B to Shakespeare’s words.

Director Corey Campbell says: “The story’s emotional core—two people who shouldn’t love each other doing so despite the cost—remains hugely relevant. Their love is the only thing that forces their parents, the politicians, to wake up and see that love is better than war.”

Rehearsals are currently taking place in Coventry ahead of a run in the city. The show is a co-production between Bristol Old Vic and The Belgrade Theatre.

Romeo AND Juliet will be opening at the Belgrade Theatre, before playing in Bristol and then moving onto the Hackney Empire.

Romeo AND Juliet premieres at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry from 21 February – 08 March 2025
It comes to Bristol Old Vic fro 12 March – 05 April 2025
It will come to the Hackney Empire from 23 -26 April 2025
