Bath-based theatre company stages play in beautiful Bath Abbey

If you’re looking for some summer Shakespeare, Bath-based Antic Disposition, is staging Romeo and Juliet in Bath Abbey until the end of August.

Audiences will experience the Shakespeare tragedy through promenade theatre. This will see the action take place in a range of locations within the Abbey, bringing the play to life in a new way.

“Our aim with this production is to transport audiences into the heart of Shakespeare’s world,” say the directors, Ben Horslen and John Risebero.

“Bath Abbey provides the perfect backdrop for the emotional intensity of Romeo and Juliet, and we’re thrilled to be bringing this beloved story to life in such a beautiful setting.”

The play has been cast with 10 south west based actors. It’s directed by Ben Horslen and John Risebero with Stanley Kayley and Isabella Ainslie in the lead roles.

Antic Disposition presents Romeo and Juliet will be running at Bath Abbey until 31 August 2024
