Russell Watson will be coming to Bristol as lawyer Billy Flynn in musicial Chicago 2022
Russell Watson will be heading to Bristol next year as part of a UK and Ireland tour of hit musical Chicago. Playing the role of smooth defence lawyer Billy Flynn, Watson will be taking to the stage with Faye Brookes as Roxie Hart and Djalenga Scott as Velma Kelly.
The tour opens at the Liverpool Empire in February 2022, though Bristol audiences will have to wait until April 2022 for the musical to arrive at the Bristol Hippodrome.
Watson, Brookes and Scott will be joined by cast which also includes Ishmail Aaron, Michelle Andrews, Gabby Antrobus, Delycia Belgrave, Joel Benjamin, Tanisha-Mae Brown, Daniel Clift, Callum Fitzgerald, Emily Goodenough, Billie Hardy, Aaron Jenkins, Liam Marcellino, Theo Reece, Hollie Jane Stephens and Harrison Wilde.
Chicago is based on a play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, adapted by Kander and Ebb with choreography by Bob Fosse. It’s full of sass, showstoppers and the winner of a long-line of theatre awards.
Roxie Hart is a nightclub dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to leave her. In the midst of a media storm, Hart attempts to dupe the public and rival cellmate Velma Kelly, by hiring razzle dazzle Billy Flynn to represent her in court.
Chicago will be at the Bristol Hippodrome from 25 – 30 April 2022
