SIX is top of the musical charts for theatre fans

Genuinely useful website SeatPlan, has been delving into data to find out which is the most popular song from a musical.

Analysing search volume data from Google Keyword Planner alongside Spotify playlists, the team conducted research to find out what was the most searched song.

It won’t be surprising for many musical theatre fans that the title song from Six came top. The data showed that the song was searched for 23k times a month per 100,000 residents. It has also been played over 55 million times on Spotify since it was released.

Wicked took spots two and three with the songs Popular and Defying Gravity.

A spokesperson from SeatPlan said: “This list clearly shows the nation’s three favourite musicals are SIX, Wicked and Hamilton. However, with the release of the Wicked film set to hit the UK cinemas later this year, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, it will be interesting to see if more Wicked songs creep their way into the top ten.”

SeatPlan is a really useful resource for people looking to book seats at theatres they have never been to, especially in London. The website allows users to upload and review their seat, as well as upload photos of the view, which is helpful when it comes to booking for different shows.
