Show of Strength’s The Mansion Through Time: At Home With The Smyths tells the story of the family behind Ashton Court Mansion

Bristol theatre company Show of Strength, have a cracking outdoor summer show lined up this June.

The company behind the award-winning Frankenstein in Bath tour, are now bringing us the story of the Smyths.

The Mansion Through Time: At Home With The Smyths, will cover family tales that occurred over the 400 years they were in residence. It will take place in the grounds of Ashton Court Mansion.

Seven Actors will be playing seven members of the Smyth family and its staff. They will be telling extraordinary true stories plucked from the 16th – 20th century. Characters will include the first resident Hugh Smyth to Esme Smyth, the last.

“Ashton Court is one of Britain’s best loved parks, but the history of the family is a hidden gem that very few people know,” Sheila Hannon, Show of Strength creative producer says.

“With a hugely increased interest in family history over lockdown, The Mansion Through Time will explore the stories, trials and tribulations of one truly remarkable Bristolian family.”

With the show taking place outdoors, social distancing will naturally occur.

Casting is Gerard Cooke, Kirsty Cox, Rachael Fagan, Lindsey Garwood, Sheila Hannon, John Lomas and Kirrris Riviere.

The Mansion Through Time: At Home With The Smyths is running from 25 – 27 June 2021, with six shows taking place over three days.

The show is recommended for ages 7 years upwards.
