The Lion King New Photos Released Ahead of Bristol Date
New rehearsal photos of the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of The Lion King have dropped and it’s brilliant to see the icon designs back in action.
The hit musical always takes regional theatres by storm when it goes out on tour. Julie Taymor’s incredible design and staging with hit music backed by Lebo M’s beautiful African rhythms and chorales makes for an iconic piece of popular musical theatre.
Stephenson Ardern-Sodje (Simba) and Nokwanda Khuzwayo (Nala) feature in the new photos, released ahead of the show’s open in Bristol.
Casting for The Lion King tour also includes Alan Mchale as Timon and Owain Rhys Davies taking the role of Ed. They will be joining returning principals Matthew Forbes as Zazu, Jean-Luc Guizonne as Mufasa, Richard Hurst as Scar, Rebecca Omogbehin as Shenzi, Thandazile Soni as Rafiki, Carl Sanderson as Pumbaa and Simon Trinder as Banzai.
Further cast includes: Lwando Bam, Mamido Bomboko Souchu, Khanyisani Beato, Jorell Coiffic-Kamall, Rushand Chambers, Tau-En Chien, Elisa Chou, Tevin Daniel, Tim Driesen, Oraine Frater, Adebunmi Gabriel, Brian Gilligan, Daniel Griffith, Alicia Hayward, Zalika Henry, Caleaf Henson, Olivia Jones, Melvin Le Blanc, Jochebel Maccarthy, Zanele Mazibuko, Fallon Mondlane, Zanele Ndlovu, Buhle Nkomo, Craig Pedro, Joaquin Pedro Valdes, Connor Pelé Williams, Tara Price, Kyle Richardson, Cristiane Santos De Jesus, Lukin Simmonds, Sherry Tay, Francesca Thompson, Maria Yim and Bukiwe Zinganto.
The Lion King will be at The Bristol Hippodrome from Thursday 17 February until Saturday 19 March 2022. We just can’t wait!
