The Rocky Horror Picture Show Stars Come To Bristol
The event celebrated the 50th anniversary of the cult movie
It’s been 50 years since The Rocky Horror Picture Show was released in cinemas and just slightly over 50 years since it made its debut on stage.
The phenomenon shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, bringing in new audiences year by year.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, a huge tour has been taking place. Kicking off last year in North America, the event has made its way to Europe, playing at the Bristol Beacon this week.
Original cast members Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn and Nell Campbell, took to the stage as part of a Q&A session. Movie aside, this is what people have come to see.
Nell Campbell made the audience’s night with a costume competition, a difficult decision considering the high quality of cosplay on view.
Patricia Quinn had commanding stage presence, talking about what those very first performances upstairs at the Royal Court Theatre were like.
Barry Bostwick delighted the audience with an a cappella version of Once in a While. The song, which was part of the original musical, failed to make the final cut of the movie. He also popped back as a wedding guest at the start of the movie.
A 4k-remastered version of the film was screened, which the audience joined in with huge enthusiasm – and a bag of props to aid interaction.
A shadow cast performed in front of the screen. The person performing as Frank-N-Furter was exceptionally good.
