The Theatre Shop Clevedon Announces New Home

The theatre had been forced to move from its Queen’s Square home before the summer

A Clevedon theatre which was forced to leave its long-term home before the summer has announced its new venue.

The Theatre Shop in Clevedon, had been bringing theatre to the town for over ten years before it was forced to close at the end of its tenancy.

This week, the company has announced that it will be moving to Market Hall on Alexandra Road.

The Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust has just completed purchase on the historic building to create a new heritage centre.

The trust funded the purchase of the building through the sale of it Waterloo House property.

Chair of Clevedon Pier & Heritage Trust, Peter Stickland said: “Market Hall will complement the Pier by creating new opportunities for exhibitions, arts, culture, learning and community activities. Together, these two remarkable buildings will help us celebrate Clevedon’s past while creating a vibrant future for residents and visitors alike.”

The same day as the announcement, The Theatre Shop also announced that it would be making its new home in the Market Hall building.

Posting on their Instagram page, Theatre Shop Clevedon said: “We’re thrilled to be able to announce that Theatre Shop will be back in business this autumn… in Market Hall, Alexandra Road! We’re so happy to be a part of Clevedon Pier’s exciting plans for the iconic Clevedon landmark.

“And to get things off to a flying start we’ll be opening in September with the premiere of Living Spit’s brand new show, before it heads off on tour… post to follow!

“Again, a huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped us with the move out of our Queen’s Square premises, and to everyone who donated to help move and store everything that makes up The Theatre Shop! We’re so grateful and can’t wait to host you in our new home!”
