- Further casting for the UK and Ireland tour of Waitress has been announced with Chelsea Halfpenny taking the role of Jenna in Bristol
Further casting for romcom musical Waitress, has been announced, with Chelsea Halfpenny taking on the role of Jenna in the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour.
Chelsea will be taking over the role from Lucie Jones from 10 January 2022, joining Sandra Marvin as Becky, Evelyn Hoskins as Dawn and Matt Willis as Dr Pomatter.
Byker Grove fans might remember Chelsea as it’s the place she started her acting career in the early 2000s. Afterwards, she moved onto Emmerdale, Casualty, then took to the stages of West End theatre.
Hit show Waitress opened on Broadway in 2016, running until January 2020. It opened in London’s West End in 2019 and will be going on tour in late 2021 through 2022.
It’s based on Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 movie of the same name, with music and lyrics from Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson. Diane Paulus directs with choreography by Lorin Latarro.
Waitress follows the fortunes of Jenna. She lives in a small town, dreaming her way out of a loveless marriage. It’s her expert baking skills that give her the chance of a new life when she takes up the challenge of a baking contest in a nearby county.
Further casting includes George Crawford as Ogie, Michael Starke as Joe, Tamlyn Henderson as Earl and Christopher D. Hunt as Cal.
The show also includes Monique Ashe-Palmer, Amelia Atherton, Donal Brennan, Aimée Fisher, Scarlet Gabriel, Nathanael Landskroner, Charlie Martin, Liam McHugh, Olivia Mitchell, Ben Morris and Brian Roland.
The musical will be at The Bristol Hippodrome from Tuesday 08 – Saturday 12 February 2022.
