Young Sherlock Filming In Bristol – Broad Street Takes Step Back In Time

City centre street in Bristol, once again steps back in time for filming

Broad Street in Bristol, took another step back in time this weekend, as filming for Young Sherlock continues in the city.

The 8-episode TV series directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone and Colin Firth, is set to be released on Prime Video.

The series is written by Matthew Parkhill, inspired by Andy Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes book series.

Set dressing included a tram stop, vintage lamppost and market stalls with local businesses turned into traditional shops such as a family butchers, printers and taxidermist.

Filming for the series has been taking place in Bristol since 2024. Broad Street in central Bristol is a popular filming location for many productions.

Chez Marcel Crêperie, featured as the Toymaker’s shop in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary episode The Giggle, which starred David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Neil Patrick Harris.

For Young Sherlock, it is now a family butcher.

The series is expected to be released during 2025.
