Treasure Island Story Walk by Show of Strength Theatre Company
Theatre company will be running special Gromit Unleashed performances for hospital charity
Show of Strength Theatre Company is an institution in Bristol. The company has crafted a series of highly popular walks around the city which have been running for the last 20 years. The company has even expanded into Bath, with their hugely popular The Frankenstein Experience.
One facet of Bristol’s history is the role it played in the story of Treasure Island. It’s where Long John Silver’s pub The Spyglass was based. Bristol certainly has its share of press gang and pirate pubs, including The Hole in the Wall and the Llandoger Trow – the latter said to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write of the Admiral Benbow Inn.
This month, Show of Strength will be running special performances of their Treasure Island Story Walk. You will be able to find out all about hidden spy holes, dirty deeds and pirate secrets in Bristol.
The special performances will be taking place in association with Gromit Unleased. Show of Strength Theatre Company will be donating 50 per cent of the ticket sales from its tours on 30-31 August 2025. The money will go to the Bristol children’s hospital charity The Grand Appeal.
