David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse
Must see for fans of David Bowie and his creative journey
It might not be in Bristol, but the David Bowie Centre in London is a must-see for fans of the singer, including those interested in the work of the creatives that surrounded him throughout his life.
It was interesting to see a cross generation of visitors at the V&A East Storehouse where the centre is located. It shows that Bowie remains a timeless icon with continuing wide appeal.
The centre is one room at the Storehouse which features several displays from the extensive archive of Bowie’s belongings.
As well as this, you can book time to look at items up close on a 1-1 bases through the Order and Object service.
This is perfect for people researching aspects of his life or the creations of people who worked with him.
The famous Life On Mars? suit – which is in the mains display – is one such example of the items made by designer Freddie Burretti. Some of the designer’s many creations, which helped catapult Bowie to stardom, are available to view through the Order and Object service.
As are those of Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto.

The V&A East Storehouse and David Bowie Centre is free to visit. The Order and Object must be booked in advance. Currently, pre-booking a ticket is not necessary. It’s best to visit early as it can become busier throughout the day.
