Bristol Theatre Makers Heading to Edinburgh Fringe This Year
The world-famous theatre event kicks off in August
A run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a rite of passage for theatre makers. Some will be facing the challenges it presents to artists for the very first time this year.
Others will be making the return journey to what is one of the biggest theatre events of the year.
Two shows headed to the festival, featuring work by Bristol theatre-makers, is musical Remember Remember! and Overtone.

Remember, Remember!
Pleasance Dome
Wednesday 05–Sunday 30 August 2026 (no performance on 17 and 24)
Packed with high-energy storytelling, original score and on point pop culture references, Remember Remember! is an ‘outrageously camp’ and queer new musical.
Described as a ‘wildly inaccurate and joyfully misinformed’ retelling of gunpowder, treason and plot, the show follows plot leader Robert Catesby
The show has been written by Bristol’s Lucy Buncombe. It’s already picked up the Pleasance Charlie Hartill Fund 2026 the Glitch Award at Lambeth Fringe, making it one to watch.
Lucy takes up the role of Guy Fawkes with Ross Tomlinson as Jamie, Tom O’Kelly as Andy and Kluane Saunders as Robert Catesby. The show is written by the cast and also features the voice of Stephen Fry.
Directing is Alex Pritchett, Musical Director is Isabella Guilar and Stage Manager is Megan Fortune.
“We’ve worked our historical little bottoms off to create a show that exists purely to make people laugh,” Director Alex Pritchett says.
“If you’ve always wanted to know the true story of the Gunpowder Plot, then you should probably Google it. We’ve barely heard of it. But we do know that Guy Fawkes had a massive bulge.”

Overtone
Pleasance Dome – 05 – 30 August 2026 (no performances on 12, 19 and 26)
Tom Brennan – founding member of Bristol’s The Wardrobe Ensemble – is taking Overtone to Edinburgh this year with The North Wall.
Directed by John Hoggarth and produced by The North Wall’s Ria Parry, Overtone is a gripping new play about love, memory and the relationships that shape us.
It explores themes of power dynamics and blurred boundaries.
Two teenagers meet after choir practice, leading to one of the most important relationships in their lives.
But, many years later, something that’s long buried begins to surface.
The story is told in a non-linear narrative where the past and present collides.
Writer Tom Brennan says “As a Fringe veteran I want the show to connect to audiences in the ways
that my favourite Edinburgh shows have: I hope it is funny, moving, and asks risky questions. I’ve
adored the shows The North Wall have produced over the years and am thrilled to work with John and the entire creative team to continue its tradition of bringing imp actful and exciting original work to the fringe.”
