Save Fiddlers – Campaign To Save South Bristol Venue

The Save Fiddlers campaign aims to save a South Bristol creative hub from residential development

A campaign is calling for South Bristol cultural hub Fiddlers, to be saved for the local community and the creative sector.

For three decades, the venue has been a major player in the Bristol music scene South of the river.

Robert Plant, the Buzzcocks, Manu Chao, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Dinosaur Jr, KT Tunstall, George Ezra and Billy Bragg are just some of the names who have played live at the venue.

But, the owners are now retiring, with the much-loved venue heading to auction on 17 June 2026.

The building is being marketed for potential residential development, but Bedminster Works and Artspace Lifespace want to buy the venue to keep in the hands of the local community.

They say: “The vision is to maintain Fiddlers as a live music and performance venue with affordable music studios, and flexible community space to make Fiddlers an anchor for music and community in South Bristol.

“We are urgently seeking philanthropic pledges and community investment ahead of the auction on 17th June 2026.”

The plan by the organisations is to enhance its live music offer with daytime rehearsals, low cost studios and residency rooms.

It would also act as a community hub for local residents and grassroots groups, focusing on supporting the communities in South Bristol.
