The Street Where You Live – Alma Tavern Theatre

October 20 - October 24

Soul Cake Theatre is coming to the Alma Tavern Theatre this autumn with Andrzej Wawrowski’s The Street Where You Live.

Wawrowski – founder of Soul Cake Theatre – has teamed up with Adam Elms. The writer, actor and poet has come on board as an associate artist.

The theatre company was set up in 2015 by Bristol based theatre creatives and has been staging edgy and entertaining theatre ever since.

“Twitchy twitchy”

The Street Where You Live
Behind your neighbours’ curtains lurk six darkly comic twisted tales. Bizarre. Bittersweet. And bloody.Go on – take a peek. The bastard child of Coronation Street and Inside No. 9. From Soul Cake Theatre, creators of Loop, the 2025 sell-out comedy drama.

Front Window

“His socks – Paisley (Spiced Orange) – stand out in the darkness like two flaming beacons.”

Jane and Pru look out for their neighbours in the only way they know how. With binoculars and an Excel spreadsheet.

Monster

“I knew there was something wrong straight away. Those big eyes and fuck-off teeth. She has small eyes. And false teeth.”

After what has happened to him, Josh just wants to be alone. But the strange girl in the red cape has other ideas.

The Agency

“You know, for someone looking for good conversation, I think you’re forgetting that involves actually speaking yourself.”

Kieran dips his toe back into the dating pool through a brand new agency. He’s got the flowers, the chocolates, the moussaka. What could possibly go wrong?

Strangers. On a Train.

“I’m not interested in whether we met at Penelope’s party—whether it was outside the toilet—inside the drawing room—or on top of the breakfast bar. Because we didn’t.”

Lisa struggles with the painful memory of a brief encounter. And a power ballad no one deserves.

Mother Lode

“She ate my Twirl. She did… I’d been looking forward to that Twirl for weeks – weeks, it had been in my thoughts.”

Barry and his mother have barely set foot outside their house in three years and that’s just how they like it. But are cracks in their relationship beginning to show?

We Came Upon The Midnight Clear

“You don’t mind—do you? – if Abigail shares something with us? Won’t take long. Then you can get back to your telly and your mince pies!”

Carol singers Gemma and Abigail have always worn their hearts on their sleeves. So when they go down a wrong path – a very wrong path – they insist you hear all about it.
