Isle of Glass – The Weston Studio

‘A refuge for the lost, a land of eternal youth, a place where time moves differently’
It’s August on the Somerset levels, just outside of Glastonbury. It’s hot and the days are endless.
This is the Land of the Gods. Conducting moon beams in Morrisons’ car park. Cleaning auras on the high street.
Once a site of religious pilgrimage – now, a counter cultural haven. Every summer, the lost wash up and the town swells.
At the edge of it all, a group of young people grow up. Building their own utopia, they create traditions of their own so that they don’t feel alone.
But the water is rising.
Following the same group of friends at different moments in time, this is a rural coming-of-age story. It’s a story about fate and the lives we choose. It’s a story of hope and loss and the friendships that sustain us.
Isle of Glass is the latest show from Bristol Old Vic’s Young Company, written and directed by Maddie Wakeling.
