New Executive Director For Tobacco Factory Theatres

A new Executive Director has been named by Tobacco Factory Theatres, after David Dewhurst announced his departure earlier in the year.

Joanna Keiller joins Tobacco Factory Theatres as Executive Director at what the South Bristol theatre says is an ‘important moment’ for which she will bring ‘strong leadership and a clear commitment to its future’.

Joanna Keiller is no stranger to Bristol’s cultural scene having previously been a part of Bristol BIMM University, Access Creative College in Bristol and Bath Theatre Academy.

“We have a clear ambition for Tobacco Factory Theatres: to be a thriving, resilient theatre, rooted in Bristol and known as a place of welcome and wonder,” Artistic Director and CEO Heidi Vaughan says.

“Joanna brings a tremendous level of cultural leadership expertise, alongside a deep understanding of the City. I’m genuinely delighted to have that combination of experience, insight and ambition joining TFT as we build the next stage of the organisation’s future.”

Joanna said she was “delighted” to be joining the Tobacco Factory Theatres venue, calling it a “special place” that is “artistically ambitious and genuinely committed to the artists, audiences and communities around it.”

“I’m excited to work alongside the brilliant team, Board and our community to shape the theatre’s next chapter, celebrating what makes it distinctive while creating space for new ideas, new connections and new possibilities,” she said.
