Akram Khan’s Creature comes to the Bristol Hippodrome November 2020

Akram Khan’s Creature Marks English National Ballet return to Bristol:

Akram Khan’s Creature, is a full length ballet inspired by Büchner’s Woyzeck and will be coming to the Bristol Hippodrome in November this year.

The tale of exploitation contains shadows of Shelley’s Frankenstein, drawing on themes of abandonment and the search for belonging.

The show is a co-production between English National Ballet and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. It features design by Tim Yip, music and sound by Vincenzo Lamagna, lighting by Michael Hulls and dramaturg from Ruth Little.

It will launch its world premiere at Sadler’s Wells in April 2020 before arriving at the Bristol Hippodrome for 18-21 November 2020.

Akram Khan said: “The outcast, the stranger, have been a common theme in my work.

“In Creature, I am looking further into the areas related to the sense of abandonment, rage and loss.”
