Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes in Cinemas:

Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes, is coming to the Bristol Hippodrome in March this year, but if you can’t make the dates, a screening of the production at Sadler’s Wells will be hitting cinema screens in May.

“I’m proud that for nearly 20 years, New Adventures has built an unprecedented audience for dance,” Matthew Bourne says

“Cinema plays a vital role in ensuring we can take our productions to many more places, both across the UK and around the world, than it is possible for us to reach with our live performances. I am delighted that our dance production of The Red Shoes, based on the Powell and Pressburger film that I have loved since I was a teenager, will now have its moment on the big screen.”

The screenings will take place in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 19 and 24 May 2020, with cinema tickets going on sale Friday 21 February.

The cast includes Adam Cooper, returning to New Adventures after more than 20 years after to play Boris Lermontov.

Ashley Shaw returns as Victoria Page with Dominic North as Julian Craster.

The filmed cast also includes Michela Meazza, Liam Mower and Glenn Graham.

Music includes Bernard Herrmann’s Fahrenheit 451 Suite with orchestrations by Terry Davies. Set and costume design is by Lez Brotherston, sound by Paul Groothuis and projection by Duncan McLean.
