Apradhini: Women Without Men at the Alma Tavern Theatre in November
Using devised moment and Indian folk song, Apradhini brings audiences the stories of women who have been jailed for life in India.
The collection of stories by author Shivani Gaura Pant, includes those of women who have been jailed for crimes including armed robbery, dacoity and murder.
‘Were their crimes heartless violations of justice or responses to untenable circumstances?’ the show asks.
‘These are stories that are often left untold because they are about women not just on the wrong side of the abhorrent class and caste divide that still exists in India, but also on the wrong side of the law.’
The show will run at 65 minutes with no interval.
Apradhini: Women Without Men will beat the Alma Tavern Theatre in Bristol on 29 and 30 November 2022.
