Bath Dance School Takes Part in Special Gala Event
Children from the Dorothy Coleborn School of Dance, will be taking part in the 20th anniversary gala performance of Ballet Under the Stars.
The event takes place at Hatch House in Tisbiry in Wiltshire.
Nine children from the dance school will be taking part in a commissioned piece of work inspired by the walled gardens of Hatch House.
The piece is called The Statue of Affinity.
The event will see children dancing on the same stage as Principal dancers from the Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet and English National Ballet.
Covent Garden Dance is aiming to bring new voices alongside established repertoire to the event.
Commissioning the Bath dance school’s Principal Annette Hind to create a new piece of dance forms part of that.
The Statue of Affinity marks the event’s final gala at Hatch House before moving to new venue Charlotte’s Lake in Bruton next year.
Principal of the Dorothy Coleborn School of Dance, Annette Hind said: “The invitation to create a new piece and share the stage with such world-renowned artists over four days is an incredible honour.
“Commissioning new works is vital to the sustainability and longevity of the art. In an era that is witnessing an unprecedented surge of AI, never has there been a bigger reason to innovate, celebrate and nurture new artists and talent.
Ballet Under the Stars is offering our dance school the opportunity to share our creativity and teaching with others, we pride ourselves on the success of our students; not just by the number of successful auditions but on the life skills that performance and craft encourage.”
Ballet Under the Stars takes place at Hatch House on
26 – July 2026.
