The Best Place To Sit In The Alma Tavern Theatre

Have you been to the Alma Tavern Theatre? It’s a great place to find some really brilliant theatre

The Alma Tavern Theatre is the oldest pub theatre in the South West. It’s a black box studio theatre upstairs at the Alma Tavern and Theatre on Alma Vale Road in Clifton.

The theatre has early bird seating. The auditorium generally opens 15 minutes before the start of the show. Being early is best. You will get to choose where to sit. And, if you are a larger party, you will be able to sit together rather than being split up 2 minutes before the show starts.

The auditorium has rows of tiered seating. For the performance in this photograph, additional rows of fold up chairs were in front of the tiered block to increase capacity.

For the best sightlines, you will be wanting the centre of the second row of fixed tiered seating. But there are no bad views with the stage fully visible from every seat.

If you have mobility issues, it’s best to contact theatre staff ahead of the performance. You are probably best sitting on the seats at the back row on the end of the aisle.

For neurodivergent people, the end of the aisles or the front row is likely to be your best bet.

Beware the lone chair. As well as the fixed tier seating and fold-up additions at the front of the tiered seating, there is one lone conference style chair. If this is in the front row, it’s a decent one to sit on. But, if it’s put into a gap between the chairs in the tiered section, there is little arm room between you and the person next to you.

The theatre is air conditioned.

The Alma Tavern Theatre is definitely worth checking out. There’s some brilliant theatre to be found here.
