Beautiful Location for Shipwrecks and Dreams’ Retelling of Dracula
This show promises to be everything you could ever want from the story of Dracula on stage
Bristol theatre company Shipwrecks and Dreams has come up with a stellar venue for their brand new retelling of Dracula. The show will run at The Mount Without. The venue is a former church which was brought back into life as an arts centre following a devastating fire.
It’s a beautiful space that’s both haunting and atmospheric – perfect for such storytelling in the dark autumn evenings.
This show has been especially adapted for the space by Ben Jenkins.

Shipwrecks and Dreams say that the work they create aims to “communicate our truths in a fictionalised world”. Within the much-loved horror story, the play explores such themes as feminine power, folkloric horror and the fragility of the male ego.
The company features a cast and crew of South West based creatives.
The cast has been announced as: Ciaran Corsar, Joe Eaton, Tomas Galle, Isobel Griffiths, Amy Harrison, Harry Hudson, Ethan John-Parker, Jonathan Mattick, Kristan Mihaylova and Fionn Smyth.
Jonathan Harker thinks his business trip to Transylvania will be routine real estate deal. It turns out to be anything but. His client is Count Dracula – a man, ruthless in life, who is pitilessly sadistic as a member of the undead. He imprisons Jonathan in his castle along with his Vampire Brides and makes no secret of his intention to prey upon the young man’s beloved fiancée, Mina.
Back home in England, under the directorship of the mysterious Professor Van Helsing, a small group prepare to take on this threat, to resist the influence of this most pernicious evil.
Might what we fear from across the sea, lurk in every human heart?
Dracula will be at The Mount Without on the 14 – 15 October 2026
