More Dystopian Tales From The Wasteland
The hit improv show comes to South Bristol this November
Bristol is home to a huge amount of high quality improv theatre. It even has its own dedicated space – Bristol Improv Theatre – a full time home to this genre of performance. That’s not forgetting The Wardrobe Theatre’s Closer Each Day and Improvised Murder Mysteries by Degrees of Error.
Another success story is the Bristol company behind Tales From The Wasteland. It’s an improv show that has grown from a three-night run at the Bristol Improv Theatre and expanded into sold-out runs across Tobacco Factory Theatres and Alma Tavern Theatre.
The company is back on stage again this November with another run of improv, this time at the Spielman Theatre.
It’s the only show with a content warning stating ‘Seriously, cannibalism comes up way too often.’
The show is an improvised post-apocalyptic adventure told by a bunch of Wastelanders. Taking a single suggestion from the audience, an entire narrative show and dystopian world is created on stage.
Tales From The Wasteland asks: If the world was ending, what would be the one thing you’d want to survive?
Audiences should expect a dark absurdist comedy inspired by such shows and movies as Mad Max, The Last of Us and Fallout.
Every performance is entirely unique, with characters and universes created right there on the spot. Previous settings have been nuclear blasted cities, dystopian robotic societies and brutal scavenger societies. And of course, don’t forget cannibalism.
