Bristol Theatre Company Founder Up For Major Award
Bristol’s Show Of Strength co-founder recognised in tourism awards
One of the co-founders of Bristol’s Show Of Strength Theatre Walks is up for a major tourism award.
Creative Producer of the company, Sheila Hannon, has brought Bristol drama and stories to life with the company’s brilliant theatre walks.
In recent years, Show Of Strength, expanded into Bath with its award-winning Frankenstein in Bath. This sees the company work in partnership with Bath venue House of Frankenstein.
Some of the long-running and much-loved theatre walks include: Cary Grant Comes Home, Blood and Butchery in Bedminster and Blood, Blackbeard and Buccaneers.
All the walks are led by a bunch of brilliant actors, known for their engaging storytelling.
Sheila’s work has now been recognised in Visit England’s Tourism Superstar award.
It’s an honour that recognises people’s dedication and passion within the tourism industry.
Show Of Strength has been a key creative fixture in Bristol for over thirty years, founded back in 1986.
The company originally opened the Tobacco Factory – now known as Tobacco Factory Theatres – in 1998 with A Journey to Bristol. The early shows took the format of a promenade performance because it would be some time until the venue acquired either heating or seating.
Sheila is quick to recognise the talents of her theatre colleagues at Show of Strength, saying they all “punch way above our weight”.
Voting is really easy. No registration is required. It closes on 22 March 2026. The winner will be announced after English Tourism Week 2026.
