Call and Response Festival Collab With Acta Bristol

Bristol Community Theatre Acta Teams Up With Call and Response

Acta in Bristol is taking part in an exciting community arts festival created by refugee artists this week.

The Call and Response event at Acta’s venue in Bedminster, sees Friends From Afar bringing a work in progress called Love Scripted.

In response to the performance by Friends From Afar, two theatre community groups from Acta will be performing work they have created in response.

The event has been facilitated by DreamArts, who are an outreach charity delivering creative and therapeutic projects in London.

DreamArts deliver the Friends From Afar programme, offering unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people the chance to devise an original performance and tour the work to communities around the UK.

Love Scripted, which will be performed at Acta this week, follows four characters and their hopes and dreams as they navigate various obstacles in the way. The performance fuses theatre, film, documentary and rap beats.

Acta’s Young Carers Youth Theatre will stage a response performance to Love Scripted. Cornerstone, a day time open-access theatre group supporting people facing disadvantage will also perform an extract from their work called On My Doorstep.

The sold-out performance takes place on Thursday 30 May 2024.
